Woodturnings by John H. Williams

Annually, the AAW assembles a special "themed" gallery of pieces at the Symposium. This piece was in the "Roots" Gallery. We're open to interpret the theme as we see fit so I created this piece with three DNA strands spirally around a sycamore hollow form. The DNA strands were left as the natural color of the wood. The background is pyrography texture and pigment colored to represent the ocean depths.
